Most of the times the rubber or plastic products has this
tendency of attracting 'mold', also known mildew. It is a rough white
layering which gets stuck on the rubber and is dangerous if exposed to the
human body. In worst scenarios it can even trigger asthma attacks besides,
the problem of sore throat, cold and coughing, skin irritation and
respiratory issues. Continuous exposure to mold can also result into mold
allergy. Hence, it is important to keep a check against mold in the day to
day items like
rubber buckets, pots,
utensils, fixtures etc.
- The first step is to put on the protective
rubber gloves and push open all the
windows, doors and curtains of the room where one is supposed to clean
the rubber product. The surroundings have to be open and well ventilated
to avoid the congestion of chemicals laden air.
- The next step is to mix bleach in warm water. Bleach is the main
substance which would clean the rubber primarily. Around half cup of
bleach in five cups of warm water is enough to clean a mid sized rubber
product.
- Now take a sponge and using its abrasive side, wipe clean the mold
from the rubber. The irregular surfacing of sponge would easily rub off
the mold.
- Once the mold is completely removed it is time to rinse it off with
hot water. The rubber substance would come out clean and would be safe
enough to use again.
- Last but not the least, towel dry the rubber and let it as it is to
absorb the room temperature.
- Make sure you discard or sterilize all things used while cleaning the
rubber. The rubber gloves, sponge, bucket etc. needs to be washed with
hot soapy water again.
