- Solid Tires: Solid-rubber tires were used on road vehicles. Later they were replaced by air-filled pneumatic tires. They are still used in special applications, for example in industrial trucks used in factories.
- Radial Tires: This is a kind of pneumatic tire that has radial-ply casing.
- Skid Steer Tires: These are solid tires are uniquely designed with aperture hole construction. This allows this solid tire to flex and give, like a pneumatic tire.
- Pneumatic Industrial Tires: The pneumatic rubber tire uses rubber as well as enclosed air which reduce vibration and improve traction.
The agricultural tires operating on soils vary greatly due to composition and moisture content. Different tread patterns are used to perform well in these soils. For traction in dryer, well-drained soils, there is the need of a shallow tread with many lug edges to bite into the soil and this design is labeled as R-1. In wetter soils, a deeper, more widely spaced lug is best. This is designated as R-1W (W for wet). For front farm tires, there is the F group. The I group is used for implements. For high flotation, the HF code is given.
Applications
- Transportation: The tires are used for those vehicles that carry goods safely for longer distances higher than the normal, average tyre speed.
- Stack/Lift: The rubber tires are also for vehicles that lift goods vertically, especially in very narrow spaces, where frequent changes of direction, braking and acceleration are required.
- Multi purpose: There are industrial or agricultural rubber tires for universal vehicles. These vehicles are fitted with different attachments for road maintenance or snow clearance. The tires are suitable for use on paved and unpaved roads as well as off-road.
- Earth mover: There are rubber tires for construction vehicles such as loaders, graders and dumpers. These vehicles load, carry and transport all kinds of material for further processing.
