Rubber Coating in a Dishwasher
Dishwashers most of the times get struck with the problem of chipped rubber
coating which not only hampers the work but also kills unnecessary time too.
Here is a step by step procedure to repair or fix the problem of
rubber coating in dishwashers.
Step 1
the very first step and rather the most obvious thing to do is to empty the
dishwasher. Pull out all the racks from it. At times, you might also need to
lift up the upper rack in order to remove the rack completely. Hence, make
sure that you do it as required.
Step 2
Now, scrub off all the rusted portions of the rack with the help of a steel
wool pad. Once you are through with it, dry out the rack with a clean rag
piece. In case the rack doesn't have any rust marks on it, wipe clean it
with a cloth piece to ensure that it is dry.
Step 3
Next, apply a dishwasher rack repair rubber solution onto the chipped areas
lightly with the help of a brush. Such solutions are easily available in
market these days.
Step 4
Now let the solution dry out completely and apply a second coat only if
required. Once you are done with the solution application, let it dry and
harden for at least 24 hours.
Step 5
Once the dry coating is ensured, finish it by applying the dishwasher rack
caps to the pointed prongs. Rack caps are quite inexpensive dishwasher
accessory and most importantly, are it is much wiser to use them rather than
applying multiple coats of repair solution on prong ends.
Step 6
Lastly, place the newly repaired racks back into the dishwasher and start
using it just the way you were using it earlier.
